Design is a hugely significant element of any digital project, and although there are a number of gifted designers out there, they won’t always be in a position to give you the best deal. Its very important that you use a specialist web designer to create your design - or at least review and tweak designs you have already. There are a number of key features in a design that can impact on the cost of implementation, and good web designers ensure their work is web friendly and cost effective to develop. Common errors include:
- Non-web friendly fonts
- Non-web friendly colours
- Page layouts that make implementing content management systems difficult and time consuming
- Complex designs that limit the coding that can be done, or impact on accessibility.
Having said this – its usually possible to build almost any design you can think of, but be prepared to pay more to implement designs that are not ‘web friendly’.
